Chalegrove Properties Limited (CPL) and JLL are proud to launch One Thames Quay, a stunningly designed 48-storey tower that seamlessly blends high-rise living with sweeping panoramic views of London.

Situated by Canary Wharf’s new emerging neighbourhood, Wood Wharf, One Thames Quay forms part of the anticipated eastern extension of the Canary Wharf Estate. Wood Wharf stretches across 6 million sq. ft of land and will provide over 3,300 new homes, 2 million sq. ft of high-quality office space, and a further 390,000 sq. ft of shops, restaurants, and community facilities.

On completion, One Thames Quay will comprise of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments each with access to a private outdoor balcony. From these balconies, residents will enjoy uninterrupted views over Canary Wharf, the O2 Arena, the River Thames, and historic Greenwich. All balconies have views over water providing a calming connection to nature.

The interiors at One Thames Quay have been thoughtfully designed to maximise space, with natural light flowing through every room from the balconies. The bright interiors blend bold and traditional design features, creating a beautiful space that’s perfect for relaxing and entertaining.

One Thames Quay boasts exceptional private amenities. The 46th Floor is home to the Sky Gym and Sky Lounge, which provide indoor and outdoor balcony areas to exercise and socialise, whilst enjoying the views. Outside space is abundant, with this floor also featuring two large, landscaped roof terraces which will provide residents with a tranquil retreat in which to relax.

The alfresco garden theme permeates throughout the entire building with the second floor providing a large wrap-around garden that will offer both external and covered spaces for all ages to enjoy, from children’s play areas to work from home zones. A beautifully landscaped ground level will provide a green oasis for welcoming residents, complimented by a lively streetscape of stores and cafes.

Other facilities will include a private residents’ bowling alley, a first for the area. Additionally, a cinema room will be the perfect space for residents to watch the latest movie or sporting events.

Luxury meets sustainability at One Thames Quay, which is the first building of its kind to feature state-of-the-art integrated energy systems that use no fossil fuels. Triple-glazed windows in every apartment further ensure energy-efficient homes for residents to enjoy.

Perfectly positioned for residents to enjoy the hustle and bustle of London, One Thames Quay is ideally located near the iconic O2 Arena, cinema, shops, and entertainment to the East, withGreenwich and its cultural, heritage sites to the South. Canary Wharf’s brilliant transport links, with the recent addition of the Elizabeth Line, add further to the attractiveness of the area and the development’s positioning. Stations situated along the eastern end of the Elizabeth Line have seen the largest premiums in house price growth compared to the region. The UK’s largest airport, London Heathrow, can now be access in under 40 minutes from Canary Wharf, a huge attraction for professionals moving East.

Rami Atallah, Director at Chalegrove Properties Limited comments:

“We are thrilled to present One Thames Quay, a unique development that offers an unparalleled balance of luxury living, sustainability, and green spaces in one of the most sought-after locations in London. The building is designed to offer its residents the ultimate living experience, and we’re confident that it will become one of the most prestigious and desirable addresses in the city.”

One Thames Quay also provides unparalleled travel connections, only 260 metres walk from the nearest DLR station and a short walk across the bridge to the underground from Canary Wharf and the newly opened Elizabeth Line, which has cemented Canary Wharf as the best-connected part of the capital. London City Airport is a 10-minute taxi journey away, opening access to over 30 European destinations to frequent travellers. London boasts some of the best universities in the world with this area of London fast becoming a higher education hotspot including Greenwich University and the new UCL Campus at Stratford, which are leading their fields in a wide range of subjects from science and technology to drama and dance.

Benjamin Hobart, Head of East, City & North London New Homes at JLL comments,

“There is an incredible amount of excitement surrounding the launch of One Thames Quay, being the first tower over 40 storeys to launch in Canary Wharf since before the pandemic and set to complete within the next 18 months. The development is very well positioned, adjacent to the new and exciting Wood Wharf district. The arrival of a project designed to such a high standard, which delivers on so much of what buyers want from their homes today, including sustainability, outside space in addition to well considered and exciting amenity provision, sets the bar for what can be expected.

“Furthermore, the scheme is priced competitively adding further to its appeal. According to JLL research, the average price of new homes reserved in Canary Wharf in Q1, 2023 was 4.4% higher compared to the same period in 2022. As the popularity of E14, as a place to live continues to grow, we can expect prices to continue to rise; with this in mind, One Thames Quay presents itself as rare opportunity to prospective buyers offering good value with prices starting at £499,950.”

Prices from £499,950

Jazz artists and classical musicians from Young Classical Artist’s Trust will play Christmas carols for the 3,500 plants in Landmark Pinnacle’s spectacular tropical garden.

To encourage their diverse biophilia to thrive, developers Chalegrove Properties Ltd has arranged musical performances based on Reda H E Hassanien et al.’s scientific evidence that music helps plants grow.

Further information regarding the homes available at Landmark Pinnacle is available from: www.landmarkpinnacle.com.

Landmark Pinnacle has started their series of un-fir-gettable performances in their panoramic gardens. However, these intimate performances are not just for residents but also for the plant life which occupies the entire 27th floor of the UK’s tallest residential tower. The 3,500 plants in Landmark Pinnacle’s gardens will enjoy a festive serenade in the form of Christmas carols played by musicians from the Young Classical Artist’s Trust.

According to the Journal of Integrative Agriculture, music encourages plant growth because it promotes the division and cell wall fluidity of callus cells and significantly enhances the activity of the protective enzymes and endogenous hormones responsible for growth[1]. As plants respond differently to different types of music[2], Chalegrove Properties Ltd arranged two different performances of classical and jazz.

Head of Planting Design at Gillespies, the specialists who brought the tropical gardens at Landmark Pinnacle into fruition, Giacomo Guzzon planned the planting at Landmark Pinnacle for a year-round, multi-sensory and biophilic experience. He references the landscape architect Karl Plomin, who described working out the right ‘melody’ for a particular place.

Giacomo Guzzon says: “All gardens are dynamic, with constant change as each plant goes through its lifecycle. Plomin said that the art of planting design is selecting plants that will flourish in the area’s conditions, complement each other and grow well together, and provide the required atmosphere through their changing composition of colour, texture, height and scent. All the elements come together in harmony, creating the right atmosphere – whether that is peace and tranquillity, or interest and excitement

At Landmark Pinnacle we’ve combined over 3,500 plants from all over the world to create two quite different melodies – the calm west-facing contemplative half, with a series of secluded lounge areas, and the west-facing play area, with a children’s trail through the vegetation and themed family zones. Think of it in terms of ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Deck the Halls, or the adagio and an allegro movements in a symphony!”

These music performances are the latest step in a care program co-ordinated by Chalegrove Properties to ensure Landmark Pinnacle’s residents and all living things enjoy a healthy and thriving gardens which allow them to connect with nature in an otherwise urban setting.

The post Thousands of Plants Serenaded with Christmas Carols in the UK’s Highest Tropical Garden at Landmark Pinnacle first appeared on Chalegrove Properties Limited.

Landmark Pinnacle’s roof garden ‘The Sky Terrace’ occupies the 75th floor of the UK’s highest residential building developed by Chalegrove Properties.

The roof garden is 762 ft (232m) in the sky and features the highest living walls in the UK, spanning 9,688 ft2 (900m2) featuring 13,000 plants.

A recent boom in roof gardens means London’s elevated green spaces now cover 371 acres – bigger than Hyde Park.[1]

In early October 2022 the UK’s highest roof garden will launch at Landmark Pinnacle, spanning the 75th floor of the UK’s tallest residential tower developed by Chalegrove Properties. The Sky Terrace is the highest private amenity space ever created in London, offering uninterrupted 360° views that one would typically only be treated to when airborne. Residents will be enthralled by unparalleled views of iconic London landmarks including The Shard, Tower Bridge, The 02 Arena, Big Ben, the Royal Observatory and the London Eye.

The one-of-a-kind space features the UK’s highest living walls, featuring 13,000 plants selected to endure wind and sunlight, including hardy and robust evergreen varieties with dashes of colour.

Chalegrove Properties, the developer of Landmark Pinnacle, working with Squire and Partners architects and Farrer Huxley Landscape Architects had a collective vision to create a unique space befitting of the exceptional views which surround the roof garden. The space has been designed as a pair of landscaped external terraces providing spectacular panoramic views over London, while offering a healthy environment embracing biophilia to ensure residents can connect with nature in an otherwise urban setting.

Triple height glazed roof gardens crown the development and create 6566 ft2 (610m2) of planted space, with seating and relaxation areas arranged to offer the best vistas over Canary Wharf to the East and London and The Thames to the West. The East terrace has been divided into a series of irregular niche corners with arranged seating designed for quiet contemplation, whilst the West side is more open for larger gatherings and social occasions. The contrasting areas add interest ensuring the space is inviting to all.

Other key features of the roof garden:

Interior design: Evokes a feeling of contemporary luxury to create a space that residents can truly enjoy and relax in.

Planting scheme: The planting is designed to deliver seasonal variety changing at every stage of the year so the space is never the same whenever it is visited.

Landscape: Is an important outdoor space where all residents and visitors can enjoy respite and relaxation. The mix of sensational views in this rooftop oasis will make ‘The Sky Terrace’ a desirable backdrop for residents seeking to host guests or for celebrations.

Colour palette: The palette employed is harmonious with the other amenity levels in the building and incorporates vibrant pops of colour. Echoing the garden context and the nearby river, the colour palette includes pops of deep blues and burnt reds, set against a backdrop of calm textured neutral tones.

Lighting: Carefully designed to complement and not take over from the planting and hard landscaping, it was important for the lighting to help foster a sense of atmosphere in the exterior spaces. The bespoke lighting provides sufficient illumination for residents to go about their activities in safety, whilst being low-key enough to not reflect too brightly in the outer glazed walls after dark and obliterate prized views over the capital.

Furniture: Contemporary furniture pieces that reflect the blending of indoor and outdoor living have been selected by Squire & Partners’ interior design team. A range of seating options – from lounge-style pieces to more formal arrangements – encourage different activities, whilst textured fabrics and organic forms complement the rooftop garden setting.

Materials: The introduction of natural materials such as stone and timber which are harmonious with the planting scheme have been selected to bring a sense of nature into the space. Materials have been selected to complement each other and provide a timeless yet relaxing environment in which residents can unwind and enjoy the double height glazing which maximises sightlines and vistas.

Exercise: From yoga to Pilates, residents can partake in truly elevated fitness experiences all year round.

Rami Atallah, Director, Chalegrove Properties said, “We are thrilled to have created The Sky Terrace, showcasing unparalleled views of the city and bringing green spaces into Canary Wharf. With an innovative design and home to UK’s highest living wall, this architectural feat is the icing on the cake of Landmark Pinnacle which offers residents a truly one-of-a-kind lifestyle.”

Michelle Bishop, Director at JLL, added: “Buyers are increasingly seeking out green spaces to strike the all-important work life balance and improve their wellbeing. Landmark Pinnacle ticks all the boxes offering would-be residents with exclusive access to gardens on both the 75th and 27th floors, accompanied by sensational West and East views of London’s iconic skyline.”

Noel Farrer, Director, Farrer Huxley and Landscape Institute Vice President said, “This space was pioneering and visionary in its ambition when we conceived it with Chalegrove Properties. This is especially so with the need for outdoor space and being closer to nature becoming an important component for modern living. I am excited to see it realised for residents to enjoy.”

David Hill, Associate Director at Squire & Partners said, “Squire & Partners’ brief for Level 75 was to create an exceptional outdoor amenity offering, capitalising on Landmark Pinnacle’s height, prominent riverside location and enviably unobstructed views over the capital. Located at the crowning point of the development, our response features double height glazing to maximise sightlines for the widest practicable vistas across east and west London and creates sheltered communal space outside apartments for residents to enjoy together.’

Richard Sabin, Managing Director Biotecture said, “Bringing nature into our cities is a vital component for a sustainable future. Our connection to the natural world is often overlooked in this increasingly urban world. Green infrastructure such as green walls, green roofs and roof gardens, can be targeted to bring plants to the very places where we need them and where they can add value.

Biotecture were delighted to work with Chalegrove Properties to design and install the living walls at Landmark Pinnacle. These living walls are the highest in the country and our team are looking forward to enjoying the views during our regular maintenance visits!”

Embracing biophilic design

It is well known that bringing greenery into urban spaces can help reduce stress and anxiety, and together with the wider planting scheme on the roof, the living walls form the backdrop for a tranquil and relaxing place for residents and their guests to unwind.

The roof garden joins the tropical garden on Level 27 as examples of innovative ways that nature is being woven into Landmark Pinnacle to enrich the wellbeing of residents. Landmark Pinnacle is leading the way in how biophilic design can address a deficiency of green spaces and interactions with nature that can be attributed to urban living. Biophilia is an innate affinity human beings have with the natural world. By applying biophilic design principles at Landmark Pinnacle, we can subconsciously reconnect people with nature, whether this be through direct experiences, such as plants and water, or indirect experiences, such as natural materials, lighting, and organic forms.

The roof garden is one of several amenity spaces available to all residents at Landmark Pinnacle:

Private cinema seating 22 guests for screenings all year round on the 1st Floor.

The Panoramic Sky Gardens, the UK’s highest indoor tropical garden on the 27th floor takes inspiration from the world-famous Kew Botanical Gardens featuring over 3,500 plants.

The Residents Club Lounge offers a place for quiet contemplation with a morning coffee or an evening with friends over a game of pool, retro arcade, table tennis or virtual golf on the 56th Floor.

Private bars and dining rooms are perfect for entertaining and meetings on the 27th Floor.

UK’s highest gym on the 56th floor offers state-of-the-art Technogym equipment and classes to rival a five-star hotel or spa with panoramic floor to ceiling panoramic views.

19 May 2022 Landmark Pinnacle has unveiled the ‘Panoramic Sky Gardens’ occupying the entire 27th floor of the UK’s tallest residential tower. Over 3,500 plants have created a spectacular tropical garden and a space dedicated for children to play and be inspired into gardening.

The indoor garden embraces biophilia to ensure residents benefit from connecting with nature including wellness, productivity and socialising with other residents against a backdrop of London’s iconic Skylines of both East London and West London.

Chalegrove Properties, the developer of Landmark Pinnacle working with Squire and partners and Farrer Huxley evolved the vision for all the garden floors and rooftop fulfilling the amenity and open space needs for residents and successfully gaining planning for the scheme. Gillespies were appointed to realise the scheme’s pioneering and ambitious planting vision, working with Phil Griffiths, Director of Verdant Horticulture and former Head Horticulturalist at Kew Botanical Gardens. Their appointment follows the completion of the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street, the ground-breaking publicly accessible indoor garden in London, which opened to the public in 2015 to global acclaim. The garden on the roof was designed by Farrer Huxley and Squire & Partners.

The ‘Panoramic Sky Gardens’ at Landmark Pinnacle encompasses over 6,350sq ft featuring a carefully curated and complex micro-climate, where plants are nurtured within an enclosed glass container. Occupying the entire 27th floor, the garden is split into an East and West side, each with its own character and layout:

With panoramic views over the City of London, the West facing London Square Garden is approximately 2,950 sq ft and features a series of lounge areas divided by gardens encompassing 1,288 plants ranging in size from low level creeping plants to large 2.5-metre high structural planting. The West Garden provides a calm space, with sofas and benches set around specially selected trees, shrubs and plants chosen to transform the space into a tropical oasis. Providing exceptional panoramic views across the River Thames and onto the London skyline, the West Garden also features a private relaxation area with lounge chairs, as well as a table tennis room.

With spectacular views over Canary Wharf and beyond, the East facing Sky Garden is approximately 3,400 sq ft and boasts 2,265 plants, creating a green and playable garden for residents. The garden is densely planted, much like a jungle, within raised, curved metal planters. A play trail running through the centre of the space will take twists and turns into and through the textural tropical and sub-tropical planting, allowing children to get close up to the forms and textures of the planting. Vertical planting in the form of trellis running up the walls and metal tunnels along the play trail also gives height to the planting, both planted with climbing plants suitable for the internal conditions.

Key features of The Panoramic Sky Gardens:

The gardens are designed to deliver a year-round, multi-sensory experience. Planting has been carefully considered to ensure it ignites all the senses, creating bursts of colour, texture, height and scents throughout the seasons, providing residents a dynamic and ever-changing experience. Ficus plants, such as figs, have been selected for their rubber-like, glossy leaves that stimulate the sense of touch, while more delicate plants with smaller leaves offer a different experience.

Incorporates Stephanotis climbing plants with their fragrant flowers to fill the summer air with a beautiful, intense scent that will delight residents using the garden.

Planting has been sourced from a specialist indoor plant nursery based in the Netherlands. To deliver maximum impact, the plants have been sourced in larger sizes including Peace lilys, Spider plant and Swiss-cheese plant.

Innovative in its transformation of a standard floorplate into a thriving environment for plants, the space has the optimum balance of light, humidity and temperature thanks to embedded technology that can be controlled at the flick of a switch. This green oasis will offer residents sanctuary amongst the planting, and a playable landscape to help foster a greater awareness of the natural world and improve well-being.

The indoor ecosystem will be supported and optimized by sophisticated technological systems, delivering innovations in plant care. This includes low-energy LED’s, light monitoring sensors, misters and airflow controls that are fed back into the BMS (Building Management System) – a computer-based control system installed in the building that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment. These features have been used to great effect at Kew Royal Botanical Gardens within their glass houses.

Embracing biophilic design

The gardens are just one of the innovative ways that nature is being woven into Landmark Pinnacle to enrich the wellbeing of residents. Landmark Pinnacle is leading the way in how biophilic design can address a deficiency of green spaces and interactions with nature that can be attributed to urban living. Biophilia is an innate affinity human beings have with the natural world. By applying biophilic design principles at Landmark Pinnacle, we can subconsciously reconnect people with nature, whether this be through direct experiences, such as plants and water, or indirect experiences, such as natural materials, lighting and organic forms.

The benefits of Biophilic design have been long recognised, but the importance of access to well-designed green spaces has been brought to the forefront by the pandemic. Landmark Pinnacle has brought the outside inside, offering residents a sustained, palpable connection with nature that they can enjoy all year round from the comfort of their own home.

Rami Atallah, Director, Chalegrove Properties said, “The residential gardens are an aspirational amenity and we wanted to bring that here for the first time, whilst creating a truly unique indoor space within the UK’s tallest residential building. The need for accessible green spaces has become more important for people, especially following the pandemic. There is a limit to the amount of space that can be provided as roof terraces or rooftop gardens, so bringing that outdoor green space inside is the next step. This means that our green indoor spaces can be used come rain or shine.”

Michelle Bishop, Sales Manager at JLL, added:“Buyers are increasingly seeking out green spaces to strike the all important work life balance and improve their wellbeing. Landmark Pinnacle ticks all the boxes offering would-be residents with exclusive access to the gardens on the 27th floor, the UK’s highest tropical garden in a residential setting, and breathtaking West and East views of London’s iconic skyline.”

Noel Farrer, Director, Farrer Huxley and Landscape Institute Vice President said, “The new urban vision of large gardens throughout the building and on the roof was conceived during the early building design evolution as parks for amenity in close proximity to where people live and children can play. The delivery of this pioneering thinking is now emerging and chimes strongly with the growing need for people to live and be close to nature.”

Armel Mourgue, Partner, Gillespies said, “Landmark Pinnacle pushes the boundary of urban living, where residential playspace and garden amenities are contained and distributed vertically through the tower. Our collaboration with Squire + Partners demonstrates that where land is at a premium, this new model of internal gardens on a large scale could be part of the solution for better, healthier lives at the centre of our cities. The controlled temperature, light and humidity generated within the gardens will create ideal tropical conditions where lush, green, exotic bold foliage will thrive even in winter, without the need for building a bespoke glasshouse. The result is a private haven where residents can comfortably relax, socialise and reconnect with nature all year round.”

Phil Griffiths, Director, Verdant Horticulture said, “It has been great to work with Gillespies on so many projects since our first collaboration on the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street, but this is a landmark in more ways than one. We have created a permanent internal landscape that will flourish inside a residential tower where only natural light comes from the side elevation, which raises the bar in terms of overcoming plant issues and relying on artificial light. We hope that this project can demonstrate a viable greener urban environment for our future residential and commercial spaces, which will be hugely beneficial for people living and working in these spaces.”

David Hill, Associate Director at Squire & Partners said,“Designed in collaboration with Farrer Huxley and Gillespies, the garden brings biophilia to the heart of the building. Shared spaces within large, vertical residential developments such as this encourage interaction between residents outside of their apartments, helping to foster a sense of community within the collective. As we all know, the Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged everyone to spend more time outdoors with an appreciation of the associated health and wellbeing benefits. Garden spaces such as these bring nature inside and help provide that valuable connection to green space in an urban context.”

The gardens are one of several amenity spaces available to all residents at Landmark Pinnacle including a gym, private cinema, private bars and dining rooms and London’s highest roof terrace in a residential setting on the 75th floor.

The post UK’s Highest Tropical Garden in a Residential Setting Launches at Landmark Pinnacle first appeared on Chalegrove Properties Limited.
